In Trine the Thief is one of the three main playable characters.
History[]
Zoya (otherwise Zoya Mistr) is a Thief and came to the local kingdom from a distant land. She had heard of an ancient object with tremendous value hidden in the Astral Academy, and takes advantage of fact that the undead army has scared away the inhabitants; there is no-one to keep the treasure safe. However, when she touches the Trine, she becomes stuck to it, and when Amadeus and Pontius come to investigate the noise, their souls are bound together.
As the game series progresses, Zoya becomes more noble and amiable, even displaying a sense of humour. She begins to show some care for her new friends and manages to surprise them on more than one occasion. In between her heroic adventures with the Trine, however, she is still a thief at heart and spends time seeking treasure. At the end of Trine 4, however, she agrees that their adventure was rewarding enough in and of itself, even waiving a monetary reward, showing how much her character has changed.
It is revealed in Trine 4 that Zoya may have grown up in poverty, hence her desire for riches. Despite this, she fears becoming a wealthy princess. A further clue comes from one of the letters found in Trine 4 which seems to be sent by one of her admirers who calls themselves 'Royal', indicating Zoya may have a history with royalty. According to this caption by Trine 4 Art Director Charlotta Tiuri, Zoya declined a marriage proposal from a royal person and it has been haunting her ever since.
Character[]
Zoya is an exceptional thief and has a soft spot for all things shiny, but not much else is known about her. She keeps things close to her chest and does not invite anyone to ask her any questions. She has never revealed secrets to anybody.
Abilities[]
- see Thief Abilities
Zoya is an extraordinary archer. Her ranged attacks are great for hitting enemies at a longer distance. In close combat Zoya does not do as well, and it would be good to have Pontius protecting her. She also carries a Grapple Hook which she can attach to wooden surfaces. With it she can swing herself over ledges and climb upwards or descend.
Trivia[]
- It's said by Trine series writer Maija that Zoya is "A thief, a hero and a mystery. She is a self-serving thief but her heroic nature makes you wonder."
- In Trine 4, Zoya explains that she developed arthritis from her revealing clothes and changed her outfit to include pants
